The business of growing microgreens is a hot topic on YouTube. This video shows how we package our living microgreens for the Farmer’s Markets.
Some of the questions we get asked are, “What is Moonlight Greens?” or “Why did you name it that?” Lisa began seeding her own trays and learning how to grow microgreens, sunflower shoots and petite peas after 10:00 at night. After quick mist of water in the morning, the seeds would continue their germination and growing. She took the kids to school and then would go and take care of her therapeutic massage clients. The seeds would grow regardless of her schedule and she watered them again in the evening. Ten days later, they were ready to harvest and absolutely delicious. Naturally, she shared them, and others began wanting her to grow microgreens for their families.
This became the perfect second job for her! Soon the hubby and kids learned the simplicity of this system, and the basement was turned into our grow room. Now, we are able to grow over 40 varieties of microgreens, sunflower shoots and petite peas, most of which are to be eaten 10-15 days after seeding. Each week we supply restaurants and families with the freshest and most nutritious microgreens available.
The biggest of “Thank You’s” goes to Larry and City-Hydro for sharing this opportunity and allowing us to serve the Omaha area.
